What Does It Mean?
Peter Said, "Lord, save me" - Matthew 14: 25-32
After "... seeing the wind, he became afraid, and beginning to sink, he cried out, saying, Lord, save me!"
So, Jesus "stretched out his hand" and lifted up Peter.
After Peter "became afraid" he had NO doubt that Jesus was not only able to save him but Jesus would save him (from death by drowning).
By proclaiming the authority of Jesus as he cried out for help,
Peter lifted up Jesus ... and Jesus lifted up Peter.
Jesus Said, "... for this purpose..." - John 12: 27, 32, 33; 14:2, 3
"Now my soul has become troubled; and what shall I say, 'Father, save me from this hour?'
" 'And I, if I be lifted up from the earth, will draw all men to Myself.'
But he was saying this to indicate the kind of death by which he was to die."
Lift Up Jesus Only - proclaim his point of view about resurrection
Until Jesus returns to receive us to himself, we are not with him at death (and while dead we are not alive)
It is at the resurrection that ALL the redeemed from Adam to the last to die will take their first resurrection after death breath at the same time.
Like a choir inhaling in unison to get ready to sing, regardless of how long they have been asleep, all of the friends of Jesus will live again, will be received by him so that where Jesus is, we will be also.
We will see him as he is because we will be as he is and
